About Us

Who We Are

JSC Justice, Survival & Chances was created from a simple belief: everyone deserves to feel supported, valued, and cared for.

We are a nonprofit dedicated to giving back and making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families through acts of service, community support, resources, and opportunities.

Our goal is to serve with purpose, meet people where they are, and provide support without judgement.

Why JSC Was Created

JSC was born from a genuine desire to give back to the community and be there for people when they need support the most.

We believe that sometimes making a difference starts with something simple, showing up, lending a helping hand, providing a needed resource, or simply reminding someone that they are not alone.

Our Commitment

We are committed to serving with compassion, giving with purpose, and making a difference wherever we can.

As JSC grows, so will our ability to give back, reach more people, and create a lasting impact in the communities we serve.

We’re here because we care, and we believe everyone deserves a chance.

Meet The Founders

JSC was founded by three family members who share a passion for giving back and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

Shaunice H.

Board Of Chair

Born and raised in San Francisco’s Bayview–Hunters Point, I am a God fearing woman who believes God has called me to serve and make a difference in the SF communities that raised me. As a single mother, I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed, to feel alone, and to wish you had more support around you. There were moments when I wished I had more guidance, encouragement, and simply someone willing to show up and remind me that I didn’t have to carry everything by myself. Those experiences shaped me and gave me a deeper understanding of how powerful compassion, kindness, and genuine support can be.

Through JSC, I want to turn those experiences into something greater than my own story. I want to give people the kind of care and support I once wished I had, while creating opportunities to make life a little lighter for those going through difficult circumstances. I believe giving back means more than simply providing a resource, it means seeing people, listening to them, supporting them, showing up for them, and reminding them that they matter.

Ja'reah C L.

Secretary

I am a proud sixth-generation Bay Area native, born in San Francisco’s Bayview–Hunters Point, a community where my roots run deep. Raised by a single mother while my father was incarcerated. I’ve experienced many hardships growing up, including homelessness and watching my mother navigate throughout life without support. These experiences molded me and gave me a deep understanding of what it feels like to struggle without help.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Design, but I am passionate about much more than just fashion. Giving back is in my blood, and I know I was put on this earth to make a difference. My father’s discipline and determination, my great-grandmother’s heart and soul, paired with my mother’s love, strength, resilience and strong belief in God, has taught and encouraged me to treat others the way I would want to be treated. To love as I would want to be loved.

My goal is to impact my community and show my daughter that physical appearance is only surface-deep, while her inner beauty is what will get her into heaven. As the J “Justice” in JSC, I strive to support those in my community. Helping at-risk youth, children of incarcerated parents, people facing homelessness, those experiencing abuse and even people who just may need a second chance at life. I want you to know, you are not alone.

Crystal C.

Financial Director

Growing up in San Francisco’s Sunnydale community and later moving to Bayview, I experienced many of the challenges that can come with growing up in an underserved community. Raised in a single parent household, my journey taught me resilience, determination, and the importance of having someone who truly cares.

Although I’m not a biological mother, I’ve had the privilege of raising a child close to my heart since birth. That experience has given me an even deeper understanding of how important love, stability, and support are in a child’s life, especially for children who may not have their parents or someone they can always depend on.

Those experiences shaped who I am and strengthened my passion for giving back. As Financial Director of JSC Justice, Survival & Chances, I’m proud to help support individuals and families while creating opportunities for a brighter future.
